With Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox Series X console expected to be available in 2020, new rumors suggest that Microsoft will unveil its 2nd next-gen Xbox console this August.
The rumored second, cheaper next-gen Xbox console will likely be called Xbox Series S, with the codename Lockhart. Via The Verge, photos show that the controller will be in white and will work on Series S, PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
This is not the first time that users speculated that it will be white considering it mysteriously appeared online in July via the Reddit user “Wolfy_Wizzardo” who claimed the photo was from a party hosted by a kid of a Microsoft employee in Washington. In that photo, the controller appeared to have new textured triggers, D-pad, and a share button. Some even speculated that this is just a special edition of the Xbox Series X.
Another version of the new controller that caused the rumor to circulate again was then reportedly sold on Sunday through OfferUp for $35 with a code that can be used for Microsoft’s Game Pass Ultimate subscription service.
Even though Microsoft has not really publicly talked about its plans for Lockhart, it is expected to be Microsoft’s cheaper and less powerful next-gen Xbox console, at 1080p or 1440p, designed with the same improvements seen in the Xbox Series, but for a lower price. The console will most likely include approximately 4 teraflops of GPU performance and 7.5GB usable RAM.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Bill Gates has been considering the deal with TikTok complicated, considering Trump asserted that any deal will require “a very substantial portion” of the price that should go to the Treasury Department. Being the frontrunner for the purchase of TikTok’s US operations, eyes are on the company’s handling of the controversial deal.
