As initial testing on Instagram, they are launching the new feature today in the US, UK, and Ireland. The company will first test it on Android phones and iPhones later on.
Anyone 18 and above can be a fundraiser. However, there are rules and guidelines to meet for fundraising activity to be approved. It is also included in the current information packet, the accepted fundraising categories. There are also lists of restrictions that need to be noted by the fundraisers to take part in this.
How To Become a Fundraiser?
Creating a personal fundraiser on Instagram is as easy as filling in the needed information. The first thing you need to start being a fundraiser on Instagram is to edit your profile and tap "Add Fundraiser." Then, you should select "raise money."
After that, you'll need to add your photo, enter your details, and you just need to select the category of the cause you're raising. You then add through Stripe your payment details. Then, it will be reviewed before you can go live. You can raise funds for up to 30 days, but it can be extended depending on your preference.
With regards to the donors, they can use Facebook Pay to donate amounts. They can choose whether to donate anonymously or not, but the fundraiser can still see the value of the donation, the donor's username, and the profile name.
In the next couple of months, users can also expect to post their lives in Stories and Feeds. This fundraising activity can be as big as the fundraising activity started on Facebook that has already raised $65 million.
