There’s no stopping Elon Musk’s SpaceX team!
After a historic week of achievements under its belt (plus a day off for its personnel over at SpaceX), the tech mogul has shared over Twitter the aerospace company’s next plans for its SN5 prototype of the Starship craft.
It is worth mentioning that the successful test flight was much needed and quite a necessity to boost the project’s personnel’s morale for previous test flights have been marred with failure and technical difficulties.
Not sure yet, but hopefully. Will need leg & other repairs. Probably SN6 flies before SN5. We need to make flights simple & easy — many per day.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 8, 2020
When Twitter user @Erdayastronaut asked Musk about what would happen to the SN-5, he replied in a tweet, which they are unsure of it yet but they would need to conduct a series of repairs before seeking to be airborne once more.
“Probably SN6 flies before SN5. We need to make flights simple & easy – many per day,” he added.
The test comes as the company is on the works for its Starship project where it aims to achieve a fully-reusable ship designed to be able to transport up to 150 tons of cargo into every space mission. This is planned to eventually replace the current Falcon 9 in use.
SpaceX’s larger goal, in the long run, is to be able to use this craft to send astronauts to the Moon, and quite possibly to Mars soon – with a planned ‘planet-hopping’ network to help the craft to refuel in between travels.
With all that being said, we should all look forward to future tests by Elon Musk and his team. And we may not know it but humans on Mars seem more and more possible in the years to come.
