Just days after news broke of the Department of Homeland Security withholding a July bulletin bearing information targeting Joe Biden’s campaign, the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis released a record, labeled “For official use only” warning that Russia plots to threaten public’s trust and confidence in the upcoming election.

The said bulletin, according to Reuters, circulated on Thursday, stated that Russia is “likely to continue amplifying criticism of vote by mail and shifting voting processes amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to undermine public trust in the electoral process.” A source revealed that media outlets and proxy websites in mid-August published criticisms about mail-in voting’s integrity, claiming that it would lead to widespread fraud. These claims have been repeatedly raised by the Republican contender Donald Trump who recently encouraged voters to vote twice – in person and once by mail – to test the system’s validity.
With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 30, 2020
For years, Donald Trump has lied about "voter fraud." Now he proceeds to tell the people of North Carolina to commit a felony by voting twice. This is not a president who believes in democracy. He is an authoritarian who must be defeated.— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) September 3, 2020
The record prophesied that Russia would continue promoting allegations of corruption pointing at the US election system and sow doubts to voters. Russians declared that in the previous caucuses in Iowa, the results were allegedly fixed in favor of “establishment candidates,” and the voting system has been manipulated.
The House Intelligence Committee Chaired by a Democrat Adam Schiff, told Reuters, that “Russia is echoing destructive and false narratives around vote by mail that President Trump and his enablers, including Attorney General (William) Barr, have been aggressively promoting.” This bulletin, he added, validated his concern about Russia’s scheme to put in jeopardy in the State’s electoral process.
On the other hand, Russia denied allegations of interfering with the US election.
