With about two months until the presidential election, the Democratic frontrunner remained ahead by 10 points against Republican President Donald Trump in a recent CBS National Poll.
Democrat Joe Biden holds a 10-point lead over President Donald Trump two months before the election, with support for each candidate getting more solid, a CBS News poll shows https://t.co/FqzSMLBy9S— Bloomberg Politics (@bpolitics) September 6, 2020
The CBS News/YouGov conducted the latest poll from September 02 to 04, which showed that Joe Biden performed best against presidential rival Donald Trump with a 10-point advantage, as voters pick the former Vice-President over the incumbent Republican President – 52% versus 42%. The poll presented that 3% of the respondents were “not sure” on who they would vote, and another 3% said they would cast their ballot for someone else.
The said poll released on Sunday surveyed 2,493 registered voters nationwide and has a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points.
Here’s a quick summary of issues included in the said poll (for full-blown results, see CBS News Battleground Tracker report).
Biden’s rating came mostly on voters who opposed Trump to be re-elected this November with forty-nine percent of them favoring him with only 32% like the former President thus, rooting for him to be named as the next President.
On the other hand, the favorability factor for Trump came from 18% who oppose Biden to take charge at the White House and 73% of the registered voters like the President, thus giving him another shot at the Oval Office.
In the case of managing the economy and the issues circling the Coronavirus pandemic, Biden earned 50% of the respondents' trust and confidence to handle the respiratory disease better than, Trump who only 38% agreed on his handling of the outbreak. On topic concerning the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine, forty-seven percent who took the survey agreed that Biden is most trustworthy on making sure the coronavirus vaccine, available in the U.S, is safe. And only 34% favored Trump to come up with a decision to make sure the vaccine is not compromised. However, 45% sided Trump as the one who handles the Economy better in these times compare to Biden’s 44% approval.
Since last week, political advertisements aired with themes of attacking each other’s credibility. Which features clips of the recent protest and unrest in the country - that highlights messages on who could cause safety and order in the country - 48% of potential voters said that they feel more protected in Biden, compared to the 43% who feel secured under Trump.
Lastly, regarding the nationwide protests that took place across the country, and recent police shootings of Black Americans, 47% believe that Trump “encourages the fighting” while 39% thinks he “calm the situation.” As for the opinion of voters for Biden, 49% agree that Joe Biden “calm the situation” and just 30% sees him to “encourage fighting.”
With Biden consistently remained favored by voters on different polls, Vox noted that there are still two months until Election Day, and any number of unforeseen circumstances could lead to dramatic changes in polling. It suggested that the recent polls hinted most voters have made up their minds who they want to vote for this year — the CBS News/YouGov poll found only 3 percent of voters are uncertain — but that does not mean Biden will have a 7 point lead on Election Day. These polls simply show how voters were thinking about the race over the last few weeks, not how they will feel on November 3 — or even if they will vote at all.
