“No sitting president’s ever done this. Never, never, never. No Republican president has done this. No Democratic president. We’ve had racists, and they’ve existed, and they’ve tried to get elected president. He’s the first one that has.” A direct remark from the former Vice President who served under Barack Obama, the first Black president, Joe Biden on Wednesday during an online campaign event organized by the Service Employees International Union
The said remark came out when a South Korean immigrant shared a story about being racially profiled and airs her concern about the Republican president calling the coronavirus pandemic the “China virus.” Biden responded how sickening it is for someone who holds the highest office in the land to deal with people based on the color of their skin, their national origin, and where they’re from. He identifies Trump as the First racist elected president despite accounts that showed there were the likes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, and Zachary Taylor who owned slaves or while in office, supported policies like the repression of Native Americans and segregation of Black Americans.
Trump, responded with Joe’s remarks by reiterating the passage of the criminal justice reform bill and the strength of the economy of minority communities before coronavirus hit the US. He said he has done more for the Black community than any other President except maybe President Lincoln.
