A day after Naya Rivera’s body was found, the autopsy was completed, and the designated medical examiner has confirmed the cause of death: accidental drowning. Stars pay tribute to Rivera as her friends and family mourn over her tragic death.
Hours after Rivera’s closest family and friends were informed that her body has been found, many of the Glee cast members were captured in a photo taken by fans, by the shore of Lake Piru, holding hands. A heartbreaking scene to watch on the same day as Cory Monteith’s, another Glee alumni, 7th death anniversary.
Lea Michele, who was both Rivera’s friend and Monteith’s fiancé, posted black and white photos of the two angels with voices that will forever be remembered in TV history. Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester) also used Twitter to say “Rest sweet, Naya. What a force you were. Love and peace to your family.”
The actress has been mesmerizing with “a laugh that would envelop you and hold you captive,” as Dianna Agron described her, and has gained immense popularity when she took on the role of Santana Lopez, representing the LGBTQ+ community in the fiercest way possible, even after the show ended in 2015.
Naya Rivera has contributed many song covers in the Fox show and three of the most unforgettable ones would be: “Valerie” (which she performed twice and owned it), “If I Die Young” (which eerily relates to her death), and “Songbird,” the song where Santana finally tells Brittany that she’s in love with her.
