The Glee star went missing on Wednesday evening after her son was found on a pontoon boat, she rented, without her. Now, her family and friends grieve as authorities confirm her death after going missing for five days.
CALIFORNIA – the 5-day search for Naya Rivera’s body came to an end as authorities announce that they have found the actress’s body at the same lake she was last seen. Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said Rivera’s family has been notified of the unfortunate discovery and that there were no signs of foul play or suicide. "As fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters our hearts are with them and we share in their grief for Naya's loss. We've been in direct contact with the family throughout this entire time and we've kept them updated on the progress of our search efforts throughout. Our hearts also go out to Naya's many friends and fans who have been holding out hope for the best over the past few days." the sheriff added.
The 33-year-old actress is believed to have drowned and the lake’s low visibility is one major factor why the search took longer. Her body was found exactly 7 years after Cory Monteith’s death.
Her Glee co-stars, who have also grieved two members who have passed away before, were seen at the shores of Lake Piru, hours before news broke out. Her on-screen lover and real-life close friend, Heather Morris, even started a trend #BringNayaHome with the hopes of finding her alive.
Rivera’s disappearance came as a shock to her family, friends, and fans. It is an unexpected tragedy that no one wanted to actually happen considering the show’s history. She is survived by her 4-year-old son, with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey, who is alive and well.
