Electric autonomous vehicle (EAV) manufacturer Tesla’s Model 3 is the most sold battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the world besting Renault and Nissan according to a June sales report on website EVSales.
Global registration down, Tesla reigns supreme
The month has seen a decrease in registrations, a whopping 22%, however, observers are not faltered with this news. In fact, June has seen the third-best result in a period of 18 months. And with a great growth prospect in the later part of 2020, experts believe that the industry can weather through the pandemic.
However, they warned that it will still depend on how the pandemic will unfold and the intensity of the looming economic crisis.
The Mainland Chinese market handed Tesla this month’s success as its Model 3 dominated and even mopping its second-best competitor, Renault’s Zoe model. Model 3 has seen more than 35,854 units sold eclipsing Renault Zoe’s 10,553. The French carmaker did not stand a chance as it got bulldozed by the Model 3’s sales figures.
Japan’s Nissan lags in third place with its LEAF model registering a global sales figure of 3,130. Other manufacturers on the list include Volkswagen with its e-Golf model, Chinese brand’s BYD Qin Pro EV, and BMW’s 530e/Le.
In terms of manufacturer performance, Tesla brings home the cake. Meanwhile, it is followed by Volkswagen, BMW, and BYD respectively.
