South Korean authorities have started investigating Tesla over concerns of alleged safety issues of its vehicles.
According to a report by Reuters, it is still unclear which specific model is being investigated but according to local South Korean reports, it is speculated that it is Tesla’s Model 3 car.
A local transport ministry official was quoted on the same report saying that the car’s features that are being investigated include its braking and steering systems. This also includes the famed Autopilot functionality.
Tesla South Korean representatives assured the authorities that would fully cooperate with the investigation.
The probe might take anywhere from half to a full year.
Tesla is competing with local homegrown company Hyundai Motor Co. in the country’s electric vehicle (EV) market.
