Electric autonomous vehicle (EAV) manufacturer Tesla is currently working on a secret project, codenamed ‘Palladium’, according to a report on the website Electrek.
Sources privy of the project shared to the website about the secret project that is rumored to be currently implemented in the company’s two factories, the one in Fremont and the other in Nevada.
Though information is kept in a tight lid, it is alleged that the Palladium project involves building new production lines in the two factories to accommodate a set of new and updated versions of the Model S and X.
According to insider reports, the new models will come in a ‘plaid’ version. Another new feature on it is the new powertrain. This update will give the user a tri-motor configuration which results in increased levels of performance and efficiency.
Another source also revealed that the Model S and X Palladium body will feature a new exterior. Earlier beta models released by the company do feature a modified body that just adds fuel to the fire.
Tesla is currently undergoing an update to its production lines on its two factories as part of the Palladium Project.
Named after the chemical element Palladium, used mostly in catalytic converters in car exhausts, the project’s official release date is unclear. Analysts and industry insiders speculate that it’ll be announced in lieu of the company’s Battery day slated this September.
