Netflix caters to ALL kinds of audiences releasing movies from action, horror, romantic, to teen-friendly ones. In this list, we’ve narrowed down 5 of the best teen movies produced by Netflix.
Let It Snow
Released in 2019, the movie follows the love stories of different teens with different plotlines, all happening in the Christmas season. It is based on the YA novel, which is also entitled Let It Snow, written by Maureen Johnson (The Name of the Star), Lauren Myracle (IM books), and John Green (The Fault in Our Stars). Its talented cast contributes to its positive reviews among critics.
Another YA-novel-turned-movie and it includes Jennifer Aniston in the role a bit similar to that of Rachel Greene (when it comes to vanity) but with a different accent and personality, and Danielle Macdonald who plays Willowdean Dickson, a.k.a Dumplin’, a talent you should be looking at. With Julie Murphy’s success in writing the book, the movie does not dismay.
The Half of It
The newest in the list, released in May of 2020. The story follows three common leads of a teen movie (a shy straight-A student, a jock, and the pretty and intelligent girl – sounds familiar?) but doesn’t fail to surprise us with something new, a narrative some previous teen movies missed. The Half of It is both written and directed by Alice Wu.
Another refreshing film that will make you love watching romantic comedy films once again. Its lead character, Alex Strangelove himself, explores his identity with the help of his friends and loved ones. Alex Strangelove had its world premiere at the San Francisco International Film Festival in April of 2018.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
A fan favorite when it was first published by Jenny Han in 2014, Netflix did not disappoint in adapting it into a movie. The film follows a girl who writes letters to her crushes without any attempt of sending them until… No, you gotta watch it to know.
With your Netflix subscription, you can definitely go ahead and watch all of these at once to know why we highly recommend it. Which one is your favorite?
