AirPods owners listen up! Apple is planning to put the AI in AirPods.
What would you say if your very own AirPods become a lil’ smarter and more self-aware? Would you go with it as an upgrade and buy one for yourself?
Tech giant Apple has filed a patent with the intention of making the current AirPods more cognizant by giving it more features than what it has today.
As Dan Robitzski of the_byte reports, the consumer electronics manufacturer has filed a patent that mentions a “wearable audio device”, which is similar to the AirPods they are currently offering at the moment, that is able to adjust the volume automatically based on your location and or what activities you’re currently involved in.
According to a report on the Business Insider, the technology will use location detecting sensors while measuring the surrounding environmental noise. Then the earpiece will adjust the audio volume in accordance with the data gathered.
Let us say that you’re out jogging. In a busy sidewalk where the sound of passing cars would be a little too loud, the earpieces will presumably lower down or increase the volume. Same goes if you’re just silently reading a book in your local library or enjoying your favorite coffee in your local café, the AI will do its job and do the right adjustments for you.
The details of whether the company will pursue making this tech are still not as clear as of writing. As Robitzski explains in the same article, it has been a common practice for companies to file patents either to claim intellectual property or store it if it will be useful in the future. Either way filing for such a claim is not indicative of outright product development. But with Apple, nothing is sure, am I right?
How about you? How do you feel if your future AirPods will have the aforementioned feature? Let us know in the comments below.
